A satellite antenna or satellitedish is a metal or plastic dish that reflects the beams of the satellite onto the receiving LNB (Low Noise Block). In the Netherlands approximately 850.000 families have a satellitedish, in Belgium this is in the range of 75.000.

The beams that are picked up by the sat dish and the corresponding LNB will in a later stage be decoded by the satellitereceiver into satellitetv or satelliteradio.

There are different types of satellitedishes:

> Offset satellitedishes: With these antennas the LNB is mounted onto a bracket at the bottom of the dish, the dish has a slight oval shape to compensate the angle in which the beams are received. Popular brands offering these types are Triax and SAB.
> Flatdishes: As the name indicates these dishes are entirely flat and have a muilt in LNB which bundles the vertical and horizontal beams. In our portfolio you find the flatantennas of the brands Selfsat and Kathrein.
> Multiantennas: When yu want receive the signal from more than one satellite with only one satellitedish you have to install a multiantenna. Different brands are offering this type of dish, you find them in our portfolio: Visiosat, Wavefrontier, Technisat and Sab.
Deze eerste drie types dienen steeds manueel uitgelijnd en gefixeerd te worden.
> Full automatic dishes: These satellitedishes lign up automatically with the satellite signal, you only have to turn on/off the power. These full automatic devices are mainly used in mobilehomes, campers and on campingsites. We recommend you the antennes of the brands Satenne and Kathrein.

The LNB's exist in different types as well, we distinguish single, twin and quad LNB's. Every LNB has to be installes with it's corresponding bracket. You can find the brackets here.

For the installation of your satellitedish you can make use of a huge number of sockets, clamps, tripods, etc so that the dish can be installed in a decent way in whatever situation. You can find them in our accessoires section.

The satellitedish needs to be aligned to have a good signal strength. This can be done by a specialist but if a little do-it-yourself doesn't scare you off you can do the installation yourself making use of the necessary tools or by means of the built-in signal aligner in the satellite receiver. More information on the installationprocedure can be found in the FAQ.
